A short history…
The Prosurgics business started life in 1996, then named Armstrong Healthcare.  The company was founded following the completion of an Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) feasibility study into possible applications for robotics in medicine and healthcare; this identified over 400 possible applications for robotics in medicine. Armstrong quickly focused down to the specific area of surgical robotics, and over the following decade developed a portfolio of technologies and products in this field. Armstrong changed its name to Prosurgics in September 2006 to reflect the positive evolution of the company as it augmented its strong technological foundations to become a truly customer focused and commercially led business.

The Company today…

Prosurgics today is an international company with sales across four continents, and an American subsidiary. Our relationships with surgeons remain the bedrock of the company, providing the input to our leading development team. Our applications, marketing, and customer support specialists work in the operating room with our customers on a daily basis, ensuring that Prosurgics remains responsive to their evolving needs. Through a better understanding of our customers our products exhibit a flexibility, ease of use and user-sensitive design that distinguishes them as “the technology of tomorrow for the surgeon of today”.

We recognise that our people are the company’s most important asset. Our multi-disciplinary team includes many experts in their field, and we aim to create a stimulating and rewarding environment in which they can thrive. Always aiming to focus on our core competences, we outsource the manufacture of our products and business support functions. Prosurgics now leads the world in developing image-guided surgical robotics. The company has a strong patent portfolio and continues to pioneer new approaches in surgical technology.

Through the use of Prosurgics’ surgical robots our customers can achieve better outcomes for their patients, perform less invasive interventions, faster surgery, and more precise targeting. In addition, important financial benefits can be realised by hospitals and other healthcare providers.

Prosurgics is a private company whose shareholders include its founders, employees, institutional investors & private individuals.

A look into the future…
The future of robotics within the surgery arena is one of expanding possibilities. An aging world population, increasing expectations and the challenge of healthcare funding, will continue to stimulate the development of smart practical solutions. In many instances surgical robotics are an enabling technology for the delivery of exciting developments in other fields of science and medicine (for example the use of gene therapy in the treatment of some tumours). Prosurgics will play a defining role in creating tomorrow’s technology and surgical solutions.
